yesterday i got a small bilimbi (averrhoa bilimbi) tree! bilimbi is also called "pickle fruit"!

at this size, it looks almost identical to a starfruit tree at the same size. that's because they are relatives!

bilimbi is sour. i'm not a fan of it raw, but i like it in sour soups.

now for the real struggle: finding a place to plant it...

today's #PlantHaul includes:

1) a pretty robust young mountain apple tree (Syzygium malaccense) that was only $12.95. we have a couple other small mountain apple trees, but i'm looking forward to growing another one.
2) a healthy-looking roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) that was $10.50. i love the drink "jamaica" from dried roselle, so i'm happy to grow this plant!
