In #planning4summer, I’ve been slowly cleaning, designing and planting my decks so that the #TortieTerror and I can enjoy plenty of #DeckPicnics.
This was our supper tonight of stuffed cod from Amron’s, braised red cabbage and mushrooms, and fresh local peas from Richmond Country Farms. Love #EatingLocal in #RichmondBC. Utterly spoiled with the choices, as is the tortie terror who ended up eating half that piece of stuffed cod. She would have eaten more, had I left the #picnic table.
Loving this pilot program of #SaveYourSkin Foundation to provide free #sunscreen dispensers across #Canada and educate about #SunSafety. https://saveyourskin.ca/sunscreen-dispensers/ Happy to live in one of the communities participating in this pilot program. Thanks #RichmondBC!
AVOIDING SKIN DAMAGE FROM UV RAYS IS CRUCIAL TO LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. OUR 2023 SUNSCREEN DISPENSER PILOT HAS LAUNCHED! In 2022, Save Your Skin Foundation partnered with medical student siblings Samuel and Karen Farag, and the municipalities of Summerside, PEI, Riverview, NB, New Westminster, BC, and Brooks, AB - as well as BC Cancer - to launch
So this happened tonight!! So proud of Manami Calvo & Maya! In our #Planning4Summer, we are working on another Japanese Canadian history project with crafting some AR art installations together around Manami & Maya’s family history from WWII.
A huge thank you to the Travel Media Association of Canada and TMAC BC for hosting these awards to celebrate Canadian travel media and the stories we share. It is very much appreciated!

For those of you curious to learn more about Jennifer's experience attending #ClownSchool at #EcolePhilippeGaulier in #Étampes, #France, she wrote about the experience on #Roamancing: https://roamancing.com/2023/03/clowning-around-and-finding-le-jeu-in-etampes-france/
She attended their two-week summer intensive, but they also have other courses throughout the year: https://www.ecolephilippegaulier.com/
Many would be surprised to learn that beyond France's popular urban destinations, lies a small town 55 kilometers south of Paris where many foreign visitors across the globe will come to visit for a very specific cause – to learn how to be a clown! The small town of Étampes is famously known internationally due to one special man who has mastered the art of the red nose. Join Jennifer Rose Garcia as she immerses herself in the art of clowning at Ecole Philippe Gaulier.
After a personally tough beginning to the year, in #Planning4Summer, we are making a promise to our team to take time to celebrate our accomplishments, starting with celebrating Canadian travel stories and being celebrated as Canadian travel storytellers, thanks to Travel Media Association of Canada and Feedspot! https://roamancing.com/2023/06/celebrating-canadian-travel-stories-and-storytellers/
Our team of Roamancers are taking a moment to enjoy celebrating Canadian travel stories and to be celebrated as Canadian travel storytellers. You see we have been recognized by two community leaders for the travel stories that we share, thanks to the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC) and Feedspot. Best of all in both circumstance, our stories are being celebrated alongside those of other Canadian travel storytellers who we respect and enjoy.
At this time last year, Jennifer Rose Garcia was #Planning4Summer with the destination of #ClownSchool at #EcolePhilippeGaulier. Here is what she learned from being a #clown and (in her words) becoming a better human being ... https://storytogo.ca/2023/06/lessons-learned-from-being-a-clown-and-becoming-a-better-human-being/
My introduction to clown was a rough one, but I learned a ton along the way. Here are few lessons I learned from being a clown, and how it has re-informed my understanding of performance, connection and humanity.
Beginning my #Planning4Summer by taking a moment to celebrate our #TMACtravel awards nomination for #Roamancing's #CultureTravels #Podcast: https://www.travelmedia.ca/news-item/tmac-announces-award-finalists
Best part of this nomination is that it's for the Nathan Fong Award & our episode on #JapaneseCanadian culture created with a fave young people, Miss Maya & 1 of my greatest friends, Manami Calvo. Maya did all the planning on what we were making on the episode - pumpkin mochi.
Here's the episode in question: https://roamancing.com/2022/04/making-mochi-and-exploring-japanese-canadian-culture/
