Broadway's upcoming "Pirates of Penzance" reimagining, "Pirates! The Penzance Musical", has been granted a four week extension due to popular demand ahead of the official opening on April 24. Previews begin April 4. Cast includes Ramin Karimloo, Jinkx Monsoon and David Hyde Pierce.

Jinkx Monsoon will join the cast of the jazzy New Orleans-style reimagining of "The Pirates of Penzance" now titled "Pirates! The Penzance Musical", joining Ramin Karimloo and David Hyde Pierce. The show runs April 24-June 22 at the Todd Haimes Theatre.

I forgot how punchy this album is off the top -- the title cut rocks! One of my record fair re-acquisitions.

On then to the 3rd cut - Heaven Can Wait -- yes, a good cover of the Meat Loaf tune from Bat Out of Hell. Makes sense, as Karla was on the album tour. And she appeared in the Paradise by the Dashboard Light video (but lip-synched to Ellen Foley's original album vocals).

But wait, there's more... my favorite cut is Bloody Bess -- penned by DeVito -- and perhaps a nod to her time on Broadway as Mabel, the female lead in The Pirates of Penzance (my favorite G&S). A rollicking pirate-themed tune that could have been the basis for a rock opera?

Yeah, it's an entertaining album, especially when you have all the background.
