So much for #duolingo

maybe #Pimsleur , #RosettaStone or ThomasMann are better

Pimsleur

#subscriptions are getting seriously out of hand.

Even the language learning program #Pimsleur has gotten into the insanity.
For "only" $20 you can access any of the language courses.

Uh... just how many languages is a single person interested in actually learning? Of course, you can get a subscription with just one language... for $19. XD

You used to be able to buy individual courses for $49, and listen to them at your own pace indefinitely. No more.

I mean, $20/mo is theoretically a great deal for the voracious learner. But for the casual learner, it feels like a rip-off.

Listening to #Pimsleur language lessons in audiobook from the library to refresh my high school and college French. I'm more than a little skeeved out by lesson 9 having a man keep trying to ask a woman out after she has told him no and also that she's married. She keeps having to say no with greater emphasis. Possibly useful but also ick. You shouldn't have to get all the way to "absolument pas."

Update: So far, #Pimsleur seems to be satisfying the main criterion of being primarily audio based and works well for how I personally learn things. I will more than likely be supplementing some of these other suggestions to enhance the experience as I grow more advanced. The feedback to this thread has been wonderful and is still welcome if anyone has more suggestions that haven't been mentioned here. Thank you so much for the support! #Blind #Language #Learning #French #Technology #Screenreader

My Journey into Spanish

Learning Spanish: As a beginner, I’ve been primarily using Duolingo and occasionally Dots for a change in pace. I’m eventually planning to transition more to Babbel, and when I’m more comfortable with vocabulary and basic grammar, I’m planning to go to Pimsleur (will also look more into Memrise and Teuida as well.)

Feels nice again to be doing Japanese Lessions via #Pimsleur. I love it a lot and its super easy, plus, I've even started to somewhat dream in Japanese again.
