Long day but good results
2L of wort for the starter and another 2L in the lagering fridge for secondary
That is all Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner (a bit of the end of my floor malted stock also). Triple decoction and 2H boil yields amazing color.
One week before my start date. Today is my most time consuming and laborious brew - the Pilsner Urquell clone. Triple decoction (and you step through 55/62/73 along the way) and 120 minute boil. But knowing I’ll be able to drink this come late January or early February is well worth it.

My latest version of the Urquell “clone” is ticking along. This one was done with the boil over propane/LPG and I’m hoping for that richer color and more Maillard goodness. I underestimated the evaporation so won’t have any excess to try as kellerbier.
Well, a two stage starter definitely is robust. I chilled the DME based starter day before yesterday to let it settle so I could decant off the liquid. Last night after brewing I poured in the chilled wort. This morning I see I had a yeast volcano.
First decoction done and adding back into the mash. The color difference is evidence of how this makes a difference. Not for everyone, but for me it is worth the long day.

The real PU for comparison. A touch more malty and a little bit higher IBUs I think. Tweak, tweak, tweak to get it closer next time.
