Ich erinnere mich daran, dass wir "Bilder einer Ausstellung" damals™ (frühe bis mittlere 1980er) sogar ausführlich im Musikunterricht behandelt haben, darunter auch die Version von EL&P. Da hier auch schon die Freunde der elektrischen Musik geantwortet haben, möchte ich noch die "Verarbeitung" von Isao Tomita ergänzen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVvQQMrEUzQ Ich fand es damals so geil, dass ich mir gleich die LP gekauft habe.

Mussorgsky’s suite, in 10 cinematic movements, recreates the experience of moving through an exhibition of paintings, through music.

Themes of the movements:

Promenading, a gnome, an old castle, children quarrelling after games, cattle, the ballet of the unhatched chicks, news spreading in the marketplace, catacombs, a dead language, a clock in the shape of Baba Yaga’s hut on hen’s legs, and the great gate of Kiev.
