Today’s #PhotoSuggestion (Color: #green, but no plants) practically calls for this picture, which I took many years ago in the bathroom mirror after a long hike. It was a bit depressing to trudge through the woods for hours with my finger on the shutter button, only to have this snapshot served up on a silver platter just before brushing my teeth ;-).

As I later learned, this is a fully grown common #lacewing (gemeine #Florfliege), which, in its younger days, effectively took care of those pesky aphids. This little monument is therefore well deserved by the hero of the plants!

Sotto il rumore dei tram e il fiume Oreto, c’è un pezzo di Palermo che per più di un secolo nessuno ha visto, il Ponte delle Teste Mozze.

È un luogo che il suo nome spaventa prima ancora di raggiungerlo, ma che, una volta scoperto, racconta una delle storie più intense della città, guerre, condanne, esecuzioni pubbliche, battaglie decisive e trasformazioni urbanistiche che hanno sepolto tutto, ma non hanno cancellato niente.

Per oltre un secolo è stato un’ombra leggendaria, citato solo in schizzi di viaggiatori e in poche foto ingiallite, finché i lavori per la nuova linea del tram nel 2014 l’hanno strappato dal sottosuolo e rimesso alla luce.
