For me, the highlight of tonight's Offbeat Jazz concert by pianist Sullivan Fortner’s trio with bassist Tyrone Allen II and drummer Kayvon Gordon was their performance of “Blue Lou”, a 1934 composition by Edgar Sampson (who also wrote “Stompin’ at the Savoy” in 1933) that Fortner and his bandmates

Paul Cornish - You're Exaggerating
I was introduced to Cornish via Joshua Redman: he was part of his touring band pre-Words Fall Short, then appeared on that album, and I saw him on the subsequent tour.
So I snagged this, his new solo debut, leading a trio with Joshua Crumbly (bass) and Jonathan Pinson (drums): there's a broad spectrum of approaches here, all interesting.
Good stuff.
