#OTD 1934, singer-songwriter Georges Moustaki was born in #Alexandria, #Egypt, to French-speaking Greek Jewish parents with the Italian name Mustacchi.
After writing successful chansons for famous singers such as Edith #Piaf and Yves #Montand, he reflected his international roots in the #chanson ”Le Métèque”, describing himself as a “shifty looking immigrant with the face of a wandering Jew, a Greek shepherd, and hair blowing in all directions”.
