Horses As Therapy
There's some bills I don't mind paying, and for me that's the horse expenses. I mean after all, I look at what I'm spending and I could either be paying that in copays to a medical system that has shown time and time again that it has failed me (I am in rural Missouri where "we don't treat pain" has turned into "we don't treat bodies in pain for anythi

My doctor, looking at my shoulder, said "You really need some physical therapy."

My physical therapist, looking at my shoulder, said "Yes, you need physical therapy."

My insurance company, without looking at my shoulder, said "No, you're fine. You don't need physical therapy."

So... I guess I don't need physical therapy. Such an efficient medical system we have here in the US.

I strongly recommend this Instagram account! A physical therapist who works with geriatric patients (who have medical profiles similar to that of the current president) offers expert opinions. #physicaltherapy #gerontology #dementia www.instagram.com/reel/DS0nn6_...

I ran a trail half-marathon with my wife today. She finished ten minutes ahead of me and I'm very proud of her. This was only my second trail run since my big injury so I was not confident on the rocks. There was a total of 2,100ft of elevation gain and loss (loop). I really hoped I would pick up the pace on the downhill but it was too rocky (Sonoran Desert granite).

My initial injury happened on a trail run so I still get very nervous. I tripped and rolled twice today which just shattered any confidence I had left. As a result of my slower pace, I was able to help a new runner who was low on water and cramping. After I gave him water and electrolytes, I helped him struggle to the end. He was very grateful and I was glad to help. Part of my search and rescue background usually means I over-prepare.

Next is to get some of that strength back in my left calf. #physicaltherapy #running

15 miles at just under a 10 minute pace, all a mild uphill (1%-2%). Ankle feels tight but knee feels good. Far from my desired pace, but regaining confidence in my stride and ability. The original plan was a bit less but it's too beautiful of a day. #running #physicaltherapy

Thanks to your support, we’ve secured $234 of $500 for Walid’s December physical therapy and transportation. Only $266 is still needed.
Your continued help keeps Walid receiving his daily therapy. Every contribution, even small, makes a real difference in his recovery. Thank you for standing with him during these difficult times.

I just ran 7 miles averaging 9m26s pace with about 1,000ft of elevation gain. I have a taped up ankle and fresh superfeet in my shoes. I felt pretty good but my coach doesn't want me to push it any harder yet.

I could have moved quicker on the downhills but I'm still hyper-focused on my form and feeling every bit of my knee. Physical therapy is formally done but I continue to do the stretches and exercises at my desk in the office. Who knew a nasty sprain would impact me for a whole year? #running #physicaltherapy
