#TIL the Sony World Photographer awards are useless and meaningless. Because they allow GenAI edits (as long as they're declared) 🙄

At that point, just make it the "who cares, any digital image goes" awards.

And yes, even "I was just removing people with the magic eraser" counts as "you faked it, so you shouldn't be eligible".

You want to take a cool photo of a tourist attraction but have it empty? Either a) put in the effort to get there when it's quiet or b) put in the effort to take multiple photos and composite them to make the people disappear. Don't just go "It's a photo of [location]" when it's 50% "what the GenAI generated as what the location most likely looked like" 😒
