I got an Urbanglass Studio residency for making new colors of neon!
I pulled a few of the browns we pulled the other day that were too thick at the ends down and after testing the white and pink phosphor jars spinning on the ball mill, determined the white was looking good enough to coat a few.
We used so much color, and It is sandwiched between two layers of clear, and the dark amber glass is so much "softer" (moving more and at seemingly lower temperatures and longer) than the clear. An interesting thing happened when I sealed a handle onto the color and not the clear when going to pull down the thick end. The color actually pulled away from the clear.
Including my recipe notes. Talking to some museum conservation folks about this, they mentioned how nice it is to have notes from the artist. This recipe was given to me by a European bender and its very effective.
