Back in the 80s I was in my dentists in Wellington New Zealand when the nurse left to answer the phone. She came back a few minutes later to say she had speaking to those people from the US that called themselves phone phreaks and keep ringing her up.

@failedLyndonLaRouchite Don't forget the #PhonePhreaks who got their kicks tripping up telephone exchanges by sending their own 2600 Hz tones down those old #POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) lines.
Way before my time, actually, but it inspired @2600 Magazine, which was a great font of knowledge on lots of more recent geeky things.
