Dear Phlebotomists:

When your patient's records clearly indicate they often get labs, and have done so since The Dawn of Time (aka as long as your lab has had electronic records), please BELIEVE US when we give you info about getting a successful blood draw.

Neither I nor my veins appreciate being stirred like a pot of boiling soup after multiple pokes because indeed, my awesome-looking veins are to #phlebotomists as #Neo is to bullets.

Can I buy all the tools needed for an IV from a #medical supply shop online? I am in #Australia.

I need: An IV set, #Hartmanns Solution, and #Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate (will have prescription). Do I really need an IV stand? Can’t they hook the bag up to something else? They’re expensive for a pole with wheels!

I can get (pay) a registered #nurse to come over and do it as long as materials, #medication, and instructions are provided. (Nobody has volunteered so far although I would pay you because I’d rather all the money go to you than be sucked up by an agency. Still looking for anyone licensed to do IVs. #Nurses #NursePractitioner #GPs #Doctors #Paramedics #Phlebotomists …)

My GP should be arranging this but he’s a raging arsehole so I have to do everything myself.

It never fails to impress me there's an entire segment of humans who've dedicated themselves to shoving metal sticks into people, sucking their blood out, and discerning underlying health concerns.
