Sinner and the Lego passion: “Building the Eiffel Tower eventually becomes boring, there are always the same pieces to assemble.”

“My brother and I started building the Eiffel Tower a few days ago at home, because after Rome I came back home and we said, ‘You know what? Let’s finish it’”. While the first round at Roland Garros against Clement Tabur offered few insights – with dominance from start to finish – Jannik Sinner entertained the audience on the Philippe–Chatrier court with the classic interview in the middle of the match. The South Tyrolean actually talked about his new passion for Lego and how he had spent part of his time at home, before arriving in Paris for Roland Garros. He did so after a question from Marion Bartoli, a former French tennis player who today handles interviews on the court at the Parisian Slam.

“We didn’t manage to finish it – explained Jannik Sinner -, because at some point there are always the same pieces to assemble and it becomes a bit boring. But we’re making good progress. So I know that after this tournament I’ll come home and then I’ll send you a photo when it’s finished, hopefully,” Sinner concluded on the subject, receiving applause from the audience. A topic that evidently fascinated Bartoli, who then continued to talk about Lego, explaining to Sinner that Swiatek once received an entire stadium of Lego to build alone: “Would you like that?” the former tennis player asked. “Of course, I’d be happy. At the same time, I’m trying to focus on playing tennis. Am I doing it pretty well? Yes, I can’t complain. I can’t complain. But, as I said before, I’m very happy to be back here,” said the world number one.

Then there was a brief mention about the match: “This is a special place. I have many good memories. I’m trying to give my best, the first match is never easy in a tournament. Thanks also to the fans, you’ve been very correct with me even though I was playing against a Frenchman.”

Il Fatto Quotidiano: Francesca Albanese sostiene la petizione lanciata dal Fatto: “Il governo Meloni tolga il veto sulle sanzioni a Israele”

“Il governo Meloni tolga il veto”. Francesca Albanese, relatrice speciale dell’Onu sui Territori palestinesi occupati, sostiene la petizione lanciata dal Fatto Quotidiano sulla piattaforma IoScelgo per chiedere all’Italia di non opporsi più alle sanzioni europee contro Israele e alla sospensione dell’accordo di associazione tra Unione europea e Israele. Non è una mossa simbolica, Israele è un paese piccolo e le sanzioni per Albanese sarebbero uno strumento efficace per fermare le violenze di Israele: “Sospendere l’accordo commerciale può aiutare a fermare l’aggressione che sta portando avanti non solo nei confronti dei palestinesi, ma anche nei confronti del Libano e di altri Paesi nella regione”.
L’accordo di associazione con l’Unione europea, ricorda Albanese, è il quadro che rende l’Ue “il primo partner commerciale di Israele”. Sospenderlo non significa, precisa, negare il diritto alla sicurezza: “Quello che Israele sta facendo non è proteggersi, ma mettere in pericolo la vita di altre persone e di altri popoli”. Da qui il sostegno alla richiesta del Fatto: che l’Italia smetta di usare il proprio peso politico per impedire una misura che, secondo Albanese, sarebbe coerente con il diritto internazionale e con lo stesso diritto europeo, che prevede una clausola di sospensione in caso di violazione di diritti umani.
La relatrice respinge anche l’ipocrita e surreale distinzione tra ‘buoni’ e ‘cattivi’ nel governo di estremista di Netanyahu, con Ben Gvir da isolare come esagitato capro espiatorio: “Non è che mentre Netanyahu dava determinate disposizioni il resto del governo si opponeva, non è che mentre il governo avanzava il Parlamento si ribellava”. Il caso della pena di morte per i palestinesi, ricorda a ilfattoquotidiano.it, mostra un consenso politico molto più largo di quanto venga raccontato dalla propaganda bellicista israeliana.
In Israele, dice Albanese, la discriminazione dei palestinesi non riguarda solo un pezzo della destra al governo, ma è un problema sociale, culturale, mediatico e istituzionale. “È il quinto rapporto che scrivo sul genocidio, è l’ottava relazione al termine dell’ottava inchiesta che conduco come relatrice speciale, e posso confermare che Israele continua a evocare a sé il diritto di torturare i palestinesi”, nelle carceri e attraverso un regime di vita “insostenibile, insopportabile”.
Albanese chiama in causa anche università, magistratura e media israeliani. Chiede dove siano state le opposizioni al genocidio, chi abbia difeso la libertà d’espressione degli israeliani contrari all’apartheid e alla guerra, chi abbia rotto la “comunicazione a 360 gradi” che per oltre due anni ha alimentato odio, discriminazione e deumanizzazione dei palestinesi, anche grazie al collaborazionismo di molti politici e media anche in Italia.
Per questo, dice, chi continua a parlare di “diritto all’autodifesa”, dopo due anni e mezzo di massacri a Gaza e in Cisgiordania, qualora fosse in buona fede è male informato. Di qui il sostegno anche alla petizione del Fatto, che non si usi Ben Gvir come estremista sacrificabile e si tolga il veto italiano alla sospensione dell’accordo Ue-Israele.
