Accidentally deleting but then recovering the music library in my MacOS Music app

When I accidentally deleted the music library in my Music app on my Macbook yesterday, I was worried that my whole music collection was gone, but I was able to copy the files back into the app. So all I lost was the record of my listening for the last

The Grateful Dead, Aoxomoxoa, 1969 on Warner Bros

This was the third studio LP from The Grateful Dead, and was one of the first albums recorded in 16 tracks on an Ampex MM-1000. It was remixed by Garcia and Lesh in 1971. “China Cat Sunflower” and “St. Stephen” remain among my favorite Dead tunes, though I find it hard to get through “What’s Become Of the Baby.”

My copy—via Salem Flea Marketplace—is a 1971 Terre Haute pressing, with the 1971 remix, on green labels but with the W7 logo on the jacket. I’m still on the hunt for a 1969 issue. (It was included in the Warner Bros. Studio Albums box set, and was put on CD in 2019 by Rhino but not vinyl).

Zwei Euro Flohmarktfund. Jede Menge sehr bekannter Mitspieler.

“The Captain”, my 1995 eulogy for Jerry Garcia, now for “the joker”, Bob Weir

In the week after Jerry Garcia died on 9 August 1995, I wrote a song as a eulogy for him, "The Captain". This morning I pulled it out and ran through it with special attention to the vocals (in connection with my singing lessons). The "captain" in the song is

The last few shows where I heard Bob Weir and Phil Lesh

After I moved to Europe in the summer of 1991, I only saw The Grateful Dead four more times: three times at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island (31 March to 2 April 1993, with Barney the Dinosaur pretending to play bass on "Iko Iko" on April Fool's Day), and once

Soooo, here's some more Grateful Dead music, this time the incarnation Furthur Band with Bobby and Phil.

Three CDs worth of great sound quality from a weekend of live shows at Angel's Camp in CA.

Full Grateful Dead albums with great guest performers.

The frogs of Calaveras County enjoyed too.
