I never thought I'd be back in the #academia world, but now that I am... I *really* wish I had known about Tree Style Tabs back when I was doing my EE undergrad (assuming it even existed back then). It makes following chains and trees of thought and references super obvious.

Do you use #Perusall & #Canvas at your Uni? Frustrated with not having good option for auto-graded extra credit assignments in #CanvasLMS?

Perusall now has ability to: (a) Provide auto-graded quizzes inside, and (b) Submit them to Canvas as extra credit out of 0 points.

Great. I'm being graded by an algorithm. It's probably an artificially intelligent one too. Worst. Pedagogy. Ever.

You know what this incentivizes students to do? Highlight the text, tell ChatGPT to "summarize" it, and then paste the result back in. LLMs grading LLMs. And the whole time, no critical thinking or learning is actually happening.

"But the professor can interact with the students and help answer questions or foster discussions!"

I'll give you two guesses as to how often that happens but you'll only need one.

The research (and, let's be frank, marketing) team at #Hypothesis has just released a white paper that synthesizes a lot of the research that supports this tool.

It's worth a read if you're already using tools like Hypothesis, #Perusall, or #Kami or if you're looking for new tools to use in your classroom.

Struggled so hard this semester to stay in the classroom w these gorram #CPTSD attacks.

Lotta times we've had to do #virtual (text-based on my end) classes through Google docs and #Perusall videos.

Only had to cancel a few.

Upside is I've worked through 2 huge and debilitating triggers that were hitting an hour before class and an hour into office hours or events I'm enjoying. Yes w aww
