Any #Synology experts on here?

I have a DS224+ and it’s awesome. My goal was to move my digital life onto my #PersonalCloud and the DiskStation has exceed all expectations in this regard.

The challenge now is that I want to add an offsite (non-cloud) data backup option. My local data is stored on a pair of mirrored drives, but in the event of a disaster at the local site I’d like a 3rd copy stored at an alternative location.

I’ve been looking at the DS124 or possibly a J series since this unit will basically be a slave to the 224+ and act primarily as a remote mirror for the main system. It doesn’t have to be as powerful. The ability to run an Ubuntu server VM for some basic maintenance tasks would be a bonus, but is not a must-have.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
