Does anyone have any inside info on DeleteMe buying PermissionSlipCR from Consumer Reports? I got this email from them about it.
https://mailchi.mp/d3ac7cd29c53/ps-deleteme

I cancelled my DeleteMe subscription a couple years ago when Consumer Reports started Permission Slip data deletion service. Partially because it was way cheaper ($20 vs. $100+ IIRC) but mostly because DeleteMe filled their site with trackers! FFS! I hassled them on old Twitter about it and then sent them emails asking about it. Never got a single response.

So, today I checked and according to TheMarkup.org's Blacklight tool, DeleteMe removed their trackers (except for Cloudflare's browser fingerprinting tracker). Okay, cool. But now Permission Slip has trackers.

I hate all of this so much.

California Sues Data-Harvesting Company NPD, Enforcing Strict Privacy Law - Slashdot

California sued to fine a data-harvesting company, reports the Washington Post, calling it "a rare step to put muscle behind one of the strongest online privacy laws in the United States." Even when states have tried to restrict data brokers, it has been tough to make those laws stick. That has ge...

@craignewmark It’s a shame that #ConsumerReports doesn’t make its #PermissionSlip app available outside of the USA. #privacy #security #business

Developed by #ConsumerReports’ Innovation Lab, #PermissionSlip is available for FREE on both iOS and Android. The new app allows you to easily contact companies that may be collecting, sharing or selling your data - and demand they stop, with the tap of a button.
