Did you know #Scotland is the first country in the world to protect in law the right to access free period products for anyone who needs them? Not sure how it’s working out, because I don’t live here. But I’ve noticed free tampons and pads in the toilets of the hostels where I’ve been staying and also on a ferry while here.
Also mentioned it in my Substack post https://amyfallon.substack.com/p/everything-i-saw-at-the-edinburgh

Thank you for doing what you do.

It isn't a unique problem. Fortunately there are people like you who are helping relief. They probably miss school if not for you.

Examples (not complete list) of people helping in other countries

UK: https://periodpoverty.uk/

Australia: https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/ or https://tabooau.co/pages/taboo-foundation

Melbourne: Victoria rolls out free pads and tampons at public vending machines across Melbourne https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/nov/14/melbourne-free-sanitary-product-vending-machines-launch 13 Nov 2024

Also some organisations working on this too, many started before the policy for giving it free to schools. However they are still needed https://www.theperiodplace.org/ and https://www.dignitynz.com/ are two examples

Earthwise Girls 40% Closing Down Sale 😢

[Read on Ethical Revolution]

Having spent many years fighting period poverty and raising awareness through the business, the amazing Earthwise Girls is sadly closing its doors and offering 40% off all remaining stock.

Some of the achievements of Earthwise Girls:

  • Donated thousands of reusable period pads to The Nasio Trust to fight period poverty in rural Kenya (over 12,000 pads in the last 5 years alone!)
  • Supported UK charities, period poverty groups, schools, colleges and universities with low price or free sustainable period products.
  • Took reusable period products to local farmers markets, eco markets and even to Wallingford Carnival.
  • Went 100% plastic free from July 2017, receiving the Plastic Free Business Champion Gold Award from Surfers Against Sewage in recognition of their efforts to run Earthwise Girls as a plastic free, sustainable business.
  • Successfully ran a successful small, family-business with as small an ecological footprint as possible for many years.

A massive congratulations to Christine, Nora and Earthwise Girls for everything they’ve done. Wishing you the best in your next chapters.
