as darkness advances
a tad earlier each day

The chill in the air
is now the norm
rather than the exception

this life regression
is a poetic metaphor

Or my dying country

is just a normal

seasonal thing

our the latest edition
of gladiator combat politics
I get the sinking suspicion
that we are all being played..

#Perhaps these invisible strings
tugging at our planted opinions
over nonsensical things
serve only as a distraction
from our real shadowy enemy..

Look up and see
exactly who is yanking us around
from up in the rafters

Maybe it's high time
that we weary marionettes
start tugging back today
and reclaim our autonomy
to unite and fight
these forces of exploitation
that have always
owned this freak show
