It's not even 1:15pm on Saturday and I'm pretty sure I've already overdone it in the garden. But I got a lot of stuff in, so... Maybe I can actually rest, with that off my mind?

I got in a boatload of seeds for various greens, particularly perennial or self-seeding greens. I put in my ozette and huckleberry potatoes (the later is supposed to be low glycemic index? I just got 3, I'm curious what those will be like). I also put in my two artichoke plants, because despite not being as big as I'd like, they seem to be languishing a bit in their nursery pots.

I put a couple of things in that are definitely a month too early, as I wasn't really thinking about it. Hopefully that doesn't doom them. The irony is that it was the two seeds I've been looking for years to find, and they can be a bit challenging to locate. Ugh.

Worst case, what's another year of waiting to find out if there's a variety of zucchini that doesn't taste like wallpaper paste to me.

Not bad for end of December in northern Scotland #perennialveg
De her planter har vokset to meter uden hjælp. #plantechat #flerårigegrøntsager #spinatranke #hablitziatamnoides #perennialveg

And so it begins! These just arrived in the mail—a few additions to my perennial edible collection. Tuberous sweet pea produces edible tubers, and cinnamon vine has edible underground tubers and edible aerial bulbils (baby bulbs), plus flowers that smell like cinnamon!

I wasn’t planning on buying more seeds this year, and then I thought, surely bulbils don’t count? And then I thought, maybe a few seeds : )

#Wildlife #ForestGarden #GardenDesign is my thing. I am actively looking for #GardenDesign work.

I am based in the UK and my focus is on using #NativePlants, edible crops & #PerennialVeg in ornamental settings, weaving wildlife habitat into the very fabric of the garden. Remote design a speciality.

Thank you 🙏 🌳

Pink dandelion! First year blooming!
A friend gave me some seeds for French pink dandelions, grown for their relatively mild edible leaves. It is truly a miracle that I remembered not to weed this little beauty out while it was looking like just any old dandelion! (her sisters were not so lucky)

Turkish rocket is looking robust! It’s a brassica family relative (but not good ole B. oleracea) Leaves are edible and especially palatable when young and tender. The florets are the main event, with a little more of a punch than broccoli.

There are at least a dozen edible/medicinal perennials making an appearance in the 4th picture! The row of hot pink net domes in the background is an attempt to ward critters off the sunflower seedlings. Mostly successful

Watching a garden show and learned a whole new thing:

#perennialVeg

Vegetable gardening with perennials instead of annuals. Plant once, harvest year after year.

Edible ornamental garden is my new favorite scheme!

Just opened up a Tupperware full of germinated seeds! I’m finally going to grow a Good King Henry patch. I had trouble with this plant before - I did things halfassed- but I found and followed some solid instructions from a seed seller
