I forgot to post my final #birbfest short list bird, which happened to be a "Red Junglefowl" - cluck cluck.
This was a fun little challenge, I don't have a lot of experience with birds.
It's Thursday, and that means it's #Birbfest short list day - today was uhh an Andean cock-of-the-rock, and yes, I snerked and giggled the whole time. What a bird.
This is pencil crayon in some random cheap sketchbook, with micronpen
Out with bugs (so glad that's done) and in with - #Birbfest! I'm doing the shortlist, which is a bird each Thursday. So here is #1 for last week... A Bronzewing Pigeon. Pencil crayon & micron pen.
10 months later (instead of 100 days), I am finally done with this project. I ended up doing 50 bugs instead of 100, and went well over the 100 day limit I had set, but I'm still really happy it's done. I still did way more art than ... well, ever.
You can find all 50 (and other pieces) over on Cara + Instagram

It's the 1st week of 2026, so here is weekly doodle #1! I went with pencil crayon landscapes as the theme for this week.
Planner: Hobonichi weeks (being used as a media journal)
Medium: Pencil crayon & micron pen
Theme: Landscapes
I decided to cap my bug drawings at 50, and then I'm going to do Birbfest next in this tiny sketch book. I'm bored of drawing bugs, 100 was way too big of a number to jump right into when I have(had) zero experience with daily drawing. Bring on the birds! Oh, and here's bug #49
I'll do a sketch book flip through on YouTube once the 50th is in there... maybe?
I am still plucking away at my bug drawings!
Here's #48, it's a fire ant.
Some of my biggest motivation/inspiration comes from Kindra over at PencilandPigment, her videos are fantastic.
