More people are killed on Australian roads.

"Deaths on Australian roads have increased every year since 2020. This is despite the Australian government’s commitment to Vision Zero – having zero deaths or serious injuries on our roads by 2050."

"Unfortunately, 1,317 road deaths were recorded in 2025, a 1.9% increase from 2024. Land transport accidents also remain a leading cause of death for children and young adults, and the third leading cause of injury hospitalisations." >>

Comments: To "look at the entire system of road use" one must not just have the car as the road user in mind but the entire mobility design and their associated industries. The focus should be on public infrastructure that enable active and safe mobility (walking and cycling) for all. "Good mobility design" does not kill, maim, pollute or leads to planetary heating.

LA Times: Dodger Walk: A great city needs a walking path to blue heaven. Do it, Frank McCourt

"...We entered the Dodger Stadium property at an intersection with no crosswalks, where cars enter and exit the 110 freeway. We stood atop a dirt patch next to a crumbling curb.

“To go a very short distance safely with a feeling that you’re not going to die,” Walker said, “is very difficult.”...."

A great city needs a walking path to Dodger Stadium. Do it, Frank McCourt

What if you could walk to Dodger Stadium, for real? What if you could head into the stadium along a beautifully landscaped and wide Dodgers-themed path? You can walk now, sort of.

Carroll Street Bridge Proposals

The Carroll Street Bridge is the second bridge crossing Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal, situated between the Union Street and Third Street Bridges. It is the most interesting of the Gowanus Canal Bridges in that it is the only wooden bridge of the bunch and the oldest of three remaining retractable bridges in the United States (see Untapped New York article). Unfortunately, it has been closed since 2021 for repair and meintenance work. The Bridge is reportedly reopening in the near future (I am not […]

Well, that was a first: Bumped into by a guy who was walking on the beach while looking down at and completely absorbed by his phone. No harm done.

And certainly took nothing away from our pleasure of walking the beach on this warm evening.

Doing the pedestrian scramble at the Shibuya Crossing! It's sort of silly how fun simply crossing the street can be, but I must admit doing the pedestrian scramble at Shibuya was on my to-do list for Tokyo. I think at least half, if not most, of the people doing the crossing on each traffic light cycle were tourists doing the crossing just to do the crossing and not because they actually needed to cross the street. It's just all part of the energy and vitality of the Shibuya area.

All #trafficLights in #Ipswich town centre failed today for a large part of the day.

There has been no statement to the media from #Suffolk County #Council or even the #Police !

It would be extremely unlikely that all the supplies from #UKPowerNetworks failed at the same time as they are from many different feeder pillars and substations - something bad must have happened to the controllers.

Although some #drivers claimed "traffic was flowing better", this will only be the case for dominant traffic flows, and #pedestrians would have struggled to find opportunities to cross the roads safely
