Today in the Guardian LIVE, Josh Butler reports that Jacqui Lambie says what I have been thinking for months; the United Nations should send #peacekeepers into #Gaza to help protect and distribute food. Arguing that it would not be a peace keeping mission but a #humanitarian and protection mission. She seems to think that it would be possible.

What it is IMO is a sensible proposition and one the ought to have seen the light of day months ago. I don't know if such a mission requires a #UN Security #Council vote, but it it does, maybe this is the trigger for the UN #Assembly to tell the Council to shove it up their collective a*** (The UN needs a good shake anyway).

In any case, I think the idea of a UN protection and humanitarian mission ought to be seriously considered.

"Police have arrested Arturo Gamboa, 24. He was booked into the #SaltLake County Metro Jail on a #murder charge. It was not immediately clear whether Gamboa was still in jail Sunday and whether he has an attorney.

Also detained Saturday were two men who were part of the event "#peacekeepingteam." One of the "#peacekeepers" fired the shot that fatally injured Ah Loo, police said.

It was not immediately clear whether those two men will face charges.

The men told police they saw Gamboa move away from the crowd and begin manipulating an #AR15-style rifle, prompting them to draw their #guns and order him to drop the #weapon, police said.

Instead, Gamboa ran into the crowd, holding his #gun in "a firing position," police said. In response, one of the "peacekeepers" fired three shots, one of which struck Gamboa and another which hit Ah Loo, according to police."
