Today #GeologyWithCats. We found during #hedgewatch many #quartz veins at the #Rosstrape. They formed when #silica rich fluids circulated in #fractures that formed during cooling of the Ramberg #pluton & are now remnants of a #geothermal system.

Today is #VolcanoThursday 😻 During #hedgewatch on #Tenerife I found this #lava piece with bubbles. #Magma contains gas & when it travels to the surface it cools down & pressure drops so the gas is released & makes bubbles.

Today some #geology from my #hedgewatch on the #Seychelles. There most #rocks belong to the #granite's & exist of #quartz, #feldspar (FSP), & #mica. Granites aren't happy in warm & humid #climate's because the FSP weathers very fast away. This is a supaw exciting example with only the quartz grains being left

Today is day 16 of #30DaysWild. During #hedgewatch my humans found #flintstone/#flint/#Feuerstein😻 Pawesome🐾 Flint is made of #quartz & forms often in #chalk. The silica is probably from the skeleton of #sponges. The exact formation isn't clear yet
