I always find Paul Mason a worthwhile read, but he concedes too much to the right on immigration here.
Nevertheless, this article is thought provoking and should be read by anybody with a serious interest in the future of the left in the UK.

I don't agree with Paul Mason's approach to immigration politics here, nor do I think he pays sufficient attention to Starmer's shift to the right since being elected leader, but his analysis and criticism of the Corbyn-Sultana party is compelling.

I often find myself in agreement with Paul Mason's writings, so it is in that spirit that I urge him to stop chasing after a seat in the Commons.
As a writer, he will continue to make a bigger political impact than he would do as a lowly backbencher constrained by the rules of the PLP.
In addition, his bid for an Islington candidacy follows failed attempts in Manchester, Sheffield, and Pembrokeshire. His continual expression of attachment to these various spots followed by failure to be adopted as PPC damages his credibility as a writer about politics.
