#PattySmyth didn’t just come back—she ambushed us with an album about aging love, confused kids, and writing sad love songs while in a healthy marriage. We talked about that, “Downtown Train,” and how long-term relationships still occasionally make you want to throw hands.

Never Enough
1987 Canada pressing
I’m a massive fan of all things Patty Smyth AND Scandal.
Patty is one of my favorite bad-ass female rock singers ever, and I’ve always loved this record, her first solo album after Scandal broke up.
It’s got a killer version of “Downtown Train” on it, along with the fantastic title track, and “Heartache Heard ‘Round The World”.
As a side note, I’m the only person I know who has met BOTH Patty Smyth AND Patti Smith, and they’re both wonderful, lovely human beings. 😂

I just find it wild how the club became the #PunkRock mecca.
With the name #CBGB, it sounded like they wanted to open a #Honytonk.
I would have expected such a place to want #JerryReed or #JohnnyCash, not #JoeyRamone or #PattySmyth.
About thirty years ago I learned how #America was introduced to #PunkRock and #NewWaveMusic by #NewYork club #CBGB.
CBGB was where #TheRamones, #Blondie and maybe #PattySmyth got a lot of exposure.
I always thought it was a little funny that the club's name was an #Acronym for #Country (music), #Bluegrass and #Blues.
Because whenever I think of Blondie or the Ramones, of COURSE I'm thinking of country music, bluegrass, and the blues.
