What the photos do not capture is how windy it was...sudden gusts threatened to carry the sweets away, and whisking matcha with a tree trunk as wind break was not the most elegant of experiences🍃🍡🌸😂

A friendly squash guards the precincts of Anraku-ji (住蓮山安楽寺).

The temple was revived with the founding of Hōnen-in in 1681. It was built in honor of Jūren and Anraku (disciples of Hōnen), who were executed after being accused of seducing two of the emperor's concubines.
