2 hour portrait session with the same model as the Joan of Arc session months ago. Same pose in both drawings from different positions. More time just allows me to erase and redraw the eyes and lips in different positions enough times to get closer to reality. I don't know how long it's going to take me to get these right on first attempt.

I have earth tone chalk pastels but one has a more redish hue and another more green so this was a test in mixing colours.

This time there was no theme. She is very much into performance art and this has contemporary mysticism as inspiration. Anyone who painted in colour and didn't spend enough time to add details to the red roses ended up with a surreal looking literal bloody mess, which was also across her crotch.

Recent session. I had problems capturing the face so only one was worth keeping. Forward facing is still very hit and miss and because I'm still just drawing what's there, as is, rather than translating features back to what's already on paper, any small movement breaks the portrait. In life drawing sessions the models try for dynamic twisted poses so the head tends to rotate over 5 minutes, sometimes quite a bit, so not ideal for portrait work by an amateur.
