The sections "PhD theses", "Licentiate theses" and "Reports" have some in-depth research about #passivehouses and #energy efficiency.

For example: Bernardo, R. (2013). Retrofitted Solar Domestic Hot Water System for Single-Family Electrically-Heated Houses: Development and testing. Rapport EBD-T--13/17 (pdf 12,9 Mb)
They investigate how much energy from the sun could be used for DHW (domestic hot water) production. They investigate several designs with different solar water heater panels.
The results are in: 10.3 Retrofitted system
"...With such improvements, the
retrofitted system was estimated to achieve an annual solar fraction of 58
% using 6 m2 of flat plate collectors in Lund, Sweden." The heating load (total energy needed to heat the water for a year) is in the range of 3000 kWh to 5800 kWh (3 to 5,8 MWh).
