I'm having issues with a passenger rights case :

I had delay during a trip on December 31st so that I missed the last train from Germany to Alsace that day. I paid EUR 70 for a taxi ride.

Eurail claims they don't need to reimburse this even though they agree it was the last connection of the day. After clarifying we agree on that, they claim taxis are not reimbursed in such a case pointing to https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A32021R0782 - Article 18.

They say :

In this section, you will find information about how, if a suitable alternative cannot be provided within 100 minutes, the traveller (sic.) can use comprable (sic.) method to reach their destination. These methods are indicated to be bus, rail and coach. Taxis and flights are specifically excluded.

I am not aware of anywhere in our official policy, or within the Passenger Rights Regulation, where it is indicated that taxis are a valid form of alternative travel if the missed connection is the last one of the day.

From my understanding from past experiences I'm entitled to use a taxi if there is no train, no bus, nothing else getting me to my destination at the same day.

Am I wrong or is Eurail wrong ?

All this talk of connection times at @jon's feed has reminded me of a bullshit thing in #PKPIC's domestic conditions of carriage. Namely, they contain a blanket provision stripping you of passenger rights across any connection shorter than 10 mins scheduled. Which would be less crazy if not for the fact that PKP PLK considers a connection requested by a carrier (you can see those when browsing Portal Pasażera, the "receiving" train will have a clickable S in a square by the station in question) satisfied at a minimum of 5 minutes. So after any timetable change (and remember, 5 of those a year here) you may suddenly find yourself unable to buy a through ticket for a particular set of trains for no apparent reason.

Yes, this is the sort of bullshit that makes people here rather less receptive to arguments that maximizing one-seat rides is not a good thing
