One of the oldest known “windows”

For a few days around the winter solstice, a ray of light shines through this opening into the chamber at the end of the passage at sunrise.

Another trip down memory lane for Throwback Thursday. My visit to the 5,200 year old Newgrange passage tomb was 16 years ago today. Weeks too late to see the sunlight actually stream through the entrance but it was still a brilliantly sunny last day in Ireland.

Autumn, 2019, Knowth, Ireland I think of Knowth in the spring and fall especially because of the equinox alignments of the passage tomb there. I wonder if we will ever understand the meanings behind the rock art and if that will bring us closer to our common humanity with those builders and artists. #Ireland #Spring #Druidry #Knowth #megaliths #PassageTomb
