Bellwood Fight Team’s Hiroaki Suzuki makes successful ONE Super Series debut in Pasay

Hiroaki Suzuki, Atsushi Onari, Deividas Danyla (© ONE Championship)

Representing Bellwood Fight Team, Hiroaki “Kaibutsukun” Suzuki, 34, of Japan recently made a successful debut in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series. He was one of the winners at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” on November 23, 2018 and was one of the three Japanese athletes on the card.

Featuring eight mixed martial arts matches, two Muay Thai bouts and two kickboxing contests, “ONE: Conquest of Champions” took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It was the fourth and last ONE Championship event to be held in the country in 2018.

In the seventh bout of the evening, Suzuki competed in a kickboxing contest in the bantamweight division against Deividas “The Savage Sitsongpeenong” Danyla, 26, of Lithuania. In the opening round, the Lithuanian kickboxer controlled the pace.

However, Suzuki connected on a left hook that sent Danyla to the mat to close the first frame. In the second round, the Lithuanian kickboxer continued to put the paces on his Japanese opponent who appeared to grow stronger as the bout wore on.

In the third round, Suzuki turned up the pressure with a stream of thunderous kicks and punch combinations, which was enough to earn him the nod on all three judges’ scorecards and have his hand raised by referee Atsushi Onari. The victory improved the Bellwood Fight Team athlete’s professional kickboxing record to 41 wins, 11 losses, 1 draw and 1 No Contest.

In the co-main event of the evening, which was a ONE Lightweight World Championship bout, Eduard Folayang of the Philippines defeated Amir Khan of Singapore by unanimous decision after 5 rounds. In the main event, which was a ONE Heavyweight World Championship bout, Brandon Vera of the Philippines knocked out Mauro Cerilli of Italy in the first round.
