A Shared Lunch! Vol. 12 No. 3 of Canadian Food Studies is about being “in it” together, so we thought we’d follow that ethos and share our lunch with you… Or actually, our authors’ lunches.

Elaine Power starts it off with her shared lunch: “A bowl of squash, parsnip and carrot soup, made from my last CSA veggie box of the year, with Aleppo chilies on top; a local Honeycrisp apple; and some Manchego cheese.”

Not actually an Xmas dinner disaster but rather part of yesterday's efforts in home brewing.
As well as the carrot wine shown, we also made a parsnip wine.
In the spirit of experimentation, various brown sugars were used in varying proportions across the batches (2× carrot, 1× parsnip) to see how we like the resulting brews and inform future batches.

Dinner tonight is pork (cooked with onion, celery, and diced tomatoes mixture that includes basil, garlic and oregano) over rice mixture (that includes white rice, lentils and quinoa), oven-roasted turnips and parsnips, and stir-fried Chinese broccoli (gai lan).
