Disagree here. As someone that started off with a brick Nokia where sms didn't even work outside our own carrier network and internet on cellphone was literally dialup that burned limited mins.

I eventually had a #Blackberry, #Palm, #Treo (Handspring), Sidekick, (whatever #Nokia called their OS), Ericsson, (I was getting a new phone every year)… the #iPhone blew them all away. I was stubborn and a bigtime Apple hater but when the iPhone 3G launched I gave in and never switched away since.

See the iPhone was fucking shit compared to other smartphones at the time, like it was YEARS behind, but apple did that thing where, like, remember how they did it with MP3 players? Instead of saying stuff like "four gigs of space, six hour battery life" they said "A thousand songs in your pocket and you don't have to fuck around with CDs," while all the other MP3 player makers were fighting over people who already knew about MP3 players, apple targeted people who'd never used an MP3 player before, and that's what they did with their smartphone. Anyway it didn't have a keyboard, it couldn't do flash, and you couldn't even copy and paste on the fucker but it sold like buggery because the adverts didn't say shit like "600mHz processor and 256 megs of RAM," they said "The internet in your pocket." Now you can't make just one website anymore, you have to make two websites, and suddenly the point of all this CSS stuff becomes clear

Bowyer Bible 6148 Loutherbourg drawing for the Macklin Bible 2 Timothy. Robert Bowyer (d.1834) expanded his Macklin Bible with over 6200 prints. He acquired de Loutherbourg's drawings for the Macklin vignettes and pasted them into his grangerised Bible. The Bowyer Bible is now in Bolton Museum. То, что мы сейчас называем КПК, PDA или по-русски «наладонником», зародилось из двух параллельных миров. Первый мир – это мир фантастов и исследовательских лабораторий, где мечтали о персональном компьютере будущего. Второй – мир программируемых калькуляторов с простейшими дисплеями. В какой-то момент эти два мира встретились Еще в конце 60-х годов XX века Алан Кей, работавший в Xerox PARC, сформулировал концепцию Dynabook. Это должен был быть портативный компьютер размером с блокнот, с плоским дисплеем, графическим интерфейсом и ориентацией на обучение. По сути, Кей описал не столько КПК, сколько идеальный персональный мобильный компьютер. Что-то среднее между ноутбуком, планшетом и электронным учебником. Но технологии того времени были абсолютно не готовы к такой роскоши. Процессоры слабые, память дорогая, дисплеи примитивные, аккумуляторы тяжелые. Поэтому Dynabook долго оставался мечтой. Но в 80-е от мечт перешли к делу.
