In 2009, I set out on my first solo road trip across the American Southwest. These four images were taken in the Painted Desert, inside Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park. I was just beginning my journey into photography — and even if these early shots have technical flaws, they mark the moment I started to see the world differently.
