Yeah, #ALDI is extremely German and that's how they are growing in the #USA:

  • efficient
  • affordable
  • fast
  • good
  • no bullshit

And #USians finally learn the benefits of that, as #Greedflation kicks in and they need to make due with shrinking net income...

Am I the only one cringing out about the things that #CNBC lists as negatives?

  • Yes you have to bring your own bag or buy one, but those #ShoppingBags at ALDI actually are useful for more than one trip and maybe bunding up trash.
  • The quarter deposit rewards people to put their shopping carts back where they picked them up
  • You ain't supposed to hang out in an ALDI: You go in, grab what you want, checkout, bag your stuff yourself and get home. This isn't an #IKEA!
  • Less selection means less overhead and thus more streamlined operations.
  • ALDI doesn't treat their staff like disposable items or trash.

Seriously, all that "#ServiceCulture" demanded is absurd #cringe because in the #US people ain't willing nor able to pay for that!

@GreenSkyOverMe by comparison € 26.152,80 is #Germany's #MinimumWage [€12,82/hr] * 40/week * 4,25 weeks/month * 12 months.

@LilahTovMoon OFC not.

Otherwise they'd advocate for #PaidParentalLeave and the like.

@MichalBryxi @Kevin because in the #USA it's legal to sabotage andnviolently crackdown on #Unions and #Stikes.

Also most places have all these "#Perks", they are called mandatory minimums and get employers jailed if they were to refuse things like #PaidParentalLeave, #PaidSickLeave and #PaidVacationLeave...

FYI:

While some states in the US have #PaidParentalLeave, if someone lives in a state that doesn’t, and their company doesn’t offer it either, they can also get a short term disability insurance policy that’ll give them paid leave.

You just have to make sure to enroll before getting pregnant, otherwise it’s considered a preexisting condition.

Four-day work week trial and year of paid parental leave recommended by Senate committee
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-03-10/four-day-work-week-paid-parental-leave-committee/102068586

The committee suggested the government use the 100:80:100 model:
"Whereby employees retain 100 per cent of the salary while reducing their hours to 80 per cent while maintaining 100 per cent productivity," it said.

This is an excellent idea for work life balance, families, new parents, productivity, and overall quality of life. I think it will be especially useful for Knowledge Workers — contrary to what many managers say, more hours of work does _not_ increase the quantity of output, and I find that long hours decreases the quality of output and leads to having to fix-up stuff later. If you're serious about achieving good quality at work then don't over-do the hours.

The committee's report calls for a major shake-up of our current work and care structures, including reviewing the 38-hour work week and upping caring benefits across the board.

@threetails Espechally since a lot of "benefits" and "perks" are mandatory in #Germany and the rest of the #EU - unlike the #USA.

Things like #AffordabelHealthcare that isn't tied to an employer, #PaidSickLeave, #PaidParentalLeave and madatory #PaidHolidays and #PaidVacation Leave...

I just think a lot of people in the USA have been accustomed to a toxic work culture...

Due to minimum hour, tenure, and firm size requirements, most Latinx (66.9%), Black (60.2%), and White (55.3%) workers are ineligible or likely to be unable to afford to take unpaid #FMLA leave. Adopting a comprehensive, inclusive #PaidParentalLeave policy and closing gaps in #Breastfeeding break legislation would remove work-related barriers; reduce racial, ethnic, and gender #inequities; and align U.S. national policies with global norms.
