Pacific civil society organisations have issued an urgent letter highlighting West Papua's worsening humanitarian crisis. Despite 25 years of PIF commitments, the situation continues to deteriorate. The letter calls for urgent action ahead of the upcoming Forum meeting: UN human rights access, implementation of the promised fact-finding mission, and immediate humanitarian response for displaced communities.

Yes, Guterres speeches at the #PacificIslandsForum highlighted the crisis and climate injustice, and the two reports launched accentuated the impacts of #SealevelRise on Pacific Island Nations in particular.
Australia shrugged off calls from Tuvalu and others to end fossil fuel expansion by our Prime Minister saying "Gas has a role to play". Sigh.

1/2 Tuvalu’s 🇹🇻climate change minister, Maina Talia, joined several First Nations leaders from across Pacific to call on #Australia🇦🇺 to set an urgent deadline for an end to #fossilfuels.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese dismissed the call saying Gas would continue to play a role.
