#LandDefenders continue to organize against #PRGT as its environmental assessment certificate is up for review starting this week [Nov 27, 2024]

"[Maas Gwitkunuxws Teresa Brown], who’s chosen to make her home in a converted school bus heated by a wood stove, said she, too, will do what it takes to make sure the pipeline project is kiboshed. 'They’re not getting in here,' she told IndigiNews. 'Over my dead body.'

"Up a forestry road north of Kispiox on Gitxsan Lax’yip (homelands), the sounds of hammering and power tools echo through the forest as golden leaves fall from aspen poplar and paper birch trees.

"With winter imminent, Maas Gwitkunuxws Teresa Brown — who is Gitxsan from the Gisk’aast (Fireweed) Clan — and her team hurry to build a structure to keep Brown’s four dogs and nine foster puppies warm during the cold months.

"In these territories of northwestern 'B.C.,' temperatures can be unforgiving, with lows known to drop to -30 C or colder at night.

"'It’s scary thinking I’m going to be out here in the winter, but it really feels like I can’t leave,' Brown says. 'I do this from love.'"

Call to Action Against the PRGT Pipeline

"We stand in solidarity with native resistance, which will likely snowball into more blockades in key areas of the project. Conjointly, as anarchists we have our own projects of destruction. Autonomous attacks allow us to expand the methods of struggle, to engage in conflict at our own pace, how and where we sit fit, and to not compromise our visions and values. We propose an offensive struggle of diffuse blows carried out by affinity groups in dispersed formation, as others have said, to act without forming compact columns, without building permanent indefensible encampments. Instead, we seek to extend diffuse hostilities over a large terrain."

Call to Action Against the PRGT Pipeline

Anonymous submission to BC Counter-info As of August 2024, construction work has started on the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) pipeline. A #BritishColumbia #FirstNation has established a #blockade on its traditional territory to close the access point into the #PrinceRupert Gas Transmission #pipeline #PRGT #ManCamp.

#Gitanyow #HereditaryChiefs decided to blockade the #CranberryConnector, a forest service road that passes over the #CranberryRiver, on Thursday after reports arrived from Gitanyow camps that large trucks and machinery were crossing their traditional territory.

As the blockade was being established, a ceremony was held to burn 10-year-old pipeline benefit agreements over the PRGT. Gitanyow maintains that the agreements are outdated and that “the project route and scope have undergone significant changes since the existing #environmental assessment was conducted in 2014,” a Gitanyow press release said.

The #PRGTpipeline was bought by the #NisgaaNation and their industry partner #WesternLNG from #TCEnergy in March of this year. The proposed pipeline will connect #CoastalGasLink to the #KsiLisims terminal, jointly owned by the Nisga’a and Western LNG.
