Nice to see all the early pollinators out and about on sunny days at the moment. Bumblebee queens have already started looking for nesting sites, solitary bees such as the Hairy-footed flower bee and some mining bees are out as well, mostly males at the moment as the females emerge later. The first bee flies are looking for nectar as well, they look cute and fluffy but are actually parasitic of solitary bees as they lay their eggs in solitary bee nests. #wildlife #pollinators

The garden is in full bloom — my plum tree (Prunus domestica) has burst into flower overnight, covering every branch in delicate white blossom. 🌸
These flowers are so much more than just beautiful — they're one of the most important early nectar and pollen sources for bees, bumblebees and other pollinators in spring. The orange-tipped stamens are particularly visible and inviting. In a few months, with a little help from those pollinators, these flowers will become plums.

De tuin staat in volle bloei — mijn pruimenboom (Prunus domestica) is van de ene dag op de andere uitgebarsten in een zee van wit. 🌸
Die bloemen zijn zoveel meer dan mooi — ze zijn een van de belangrijkste vroege nectar- en pollenbronnen voor bijen, hommels en andere bestuivers in het voorjaar. De oranje meeldraden zijn goed zichtbaar en uitnodigend. Over een paar maanden, met wat hulp van die bestuivers, worden deze bloemen pruimen.
