Now I think (not the first time in last 2 years) I should use cash more often again. After legal name change last year I had to renew some things, get new #DebitCard among them. I was stressed about having to live that week without one before they sent me new... and it made me worry. In early 2020, after degoogling I revoked my card to make sure my new one wouldn't be known by Google. And then I didn't so much worried even if I had to wait two weeks.

What happened? Did I become more card-dependent in few years or something? Only noticeable lifestyle change is that I more often eating out in fast foods - and walk more in the city but without buying anything so it shouldn't affect this...

I'm hopeful this turns out to be cool. A VISA/Mastercard alternative in Europe is urgently needed. Especially since their fees are pretty high.

Well it seems that Panda Express has changed their policy. They kept my pennies again today (side dish) and I asked to speak to the manager, hoping to make my point that they're keeping two cents when she scolded me for keeping one.
But it was a different manager, who said they'd give me a nickel back, shortchanging themselves three cents!
I thanked her profusely and said what a nice change in policy this is. Not expecting it to be consistent, but we'll see.

#Wero has to be the most misunderstood product in the press, ever. I’ve read everything from Wero supposedly replacing Visa/Mastercard as a payment network to it replacing PayPal. None of this is accurate. Wero is a phone book that maps phone numbers to account numbers. That’s it. #Payment

Leicester Comedy Festival Faces Delays in Paying Performers Due to Cashflow Issues

The Leicester Comedy Festival, one of the largest comedy events in the UK, has faced significant delays in paying performers, leaving hundreds of comedians and event organisers out of pocket. The festival, which attracted around 100,000 spectators and over 500 acts, including high-profile names such as Sir Stephen Fry and Sara Pascoe, was scheduled to settle payments on 19 April. However, many artists, including full-time comedian Ben Alborough who is owed nearly £2,000, have yet to receive their fees. Canadian comedian Zoe Brownstone, owed £180, described the situation as 'astonishing', given the scale and organisation of the festival. Event organisers, such as Rachael Johnson from Lutterworth, have also reported being unpaid for ticket revenues, leaving them struggling with operational costs. Michael Harris-Wakelam, CEO of Big Difference, the non-profit behind the festival, explained that cashflow issues caused the delays, as the festival is still awaiting payments from various sources, including sponsorship and third-party ticket sales. Organisers are exploring bridging loans to prioritise payments to artists. Industry representatives highlighted that comedy, particularly grassroots live comedy, receives less support compared to other live arts, risking the loss of emerging talent. Despite the delays, performers like Ben Alborough remain committed to returning to the festival, emphasising its cultural and professional significance.
