Also it's not a simple #VendorLock but a #Whitelist of PCI-IDs, MAC Adress- and IMEI Number Ranges, so it's not enough to have i.e. a #Lenovo-rebranded #Fibocom #850GL which is a rebadged #Intel #XMM7360, but only the version offered for i.e. the #ThinkPad #P15v will be accepted and initialized.

I had a work-issued #ThinkPad #P15v and that thing never complained about me swapping the 256GB NVMe for a pair of 1TB Crucial P1's... I've never heard of #VendorLocking of #SSDs outside of #Apple devices...

I had a work-issued #ThinkPad #P15v and that thing never complained about me swapping the 256GB NVMe for a pair of 1TB Crucial P1's...

I've never heard of #VendorLocking of #SSDs outside of #Apple devices...

Had to deactivate the #Quadro P600 in a #ThinkPad #P15v because #nvidia's shitty drivers refuse to handle #MixedDPI gracefully but the #iGPU of the #Xeon 10855M does just run flawlessly and supports #Wayland out of the box...

#Lenovo brings #Apple-Style #Enshittification like #soldered-down #RAM, #PlasticSnaps instead od Screws, #GluedInBatteries with #DRM instead of toolfree hot-swappable ones and worse #quality.

Seriously, I would've bought myself a fully-decked out #P15v if Lenovo didn't fecked it up with my work-issied machine.

I once really loved their devices and I'll keep to #UseLonger my #X230t...

@stdevel @bradlinder that is sadly not the truth anymore.

Despite being "#UbuntuCertified" absolute basics like the #WWAN module didn't wotk at all on a work issued #ThinkPad #P15v.
Neither them nor #Canonical nor #Fibocom (#850GL WWAN Card) nor #Intel (#XMM7360 is the chipset of said card) felt responsible to fix it.

Not gonna talk about #nvidia being shitty again on that occasion...

Hab' mich ja schon zur #Fibocom #850GL / #Intel #XMM7360 in nem #Thinkpad #P15v auf   ausgekotzt und wie Weder Fibocom noch Intel noch Lenovo sich zuständig fühlten...

Und wegen Lenovo kann ich nicht einfach das WWAN-Modem durch was gescheites tauschen, weil Whitelisting der PCI-ID...

@malcircuit Yeah - I had similar issues with a work-issued #ThinkPad #P15v and it only worked out by disabling the #Quadro dGPU in favour of the #Xeon 10855M's iGPU...

It did triple displays fine using the Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock...
