Getting back to the issue, I find that the fact they answered is just kind enough since a random guy just started blaming them on his own blog, without addressing a formal question to them. I understand it might be still spartan (at least the desktop version). There are many shines that other IMs have got.
BUT
1) Whatsapp is owned by Zuckerberg. Even though his companies cannot know what you write, it know when and who you are writing too. It knows basically all your relations thanks to cross checks with Facebook, Threads and Instagram itself. Plus it needs your phone number and it's centralised
2) Telegram doesn't crypt anything unless you ask it to, and group chat are basically cleartext. Still phone number needed + centralised.
3) Signal is great for privacy but cannot say the same for anonimity due to the need of phone number. Privacy is not golden sinceas soon as you install it, it yelds others you're on that platform. And it's centralised. Ah oh, it's not fully open source;
4) Matrix /Element is a good choice: federated and crypted, but servers do know your IP; and it leaks metadatas;
5) Threema is more for business, leaks some metadatas and it's even paid;
6) Session is what I said in the title. It's not that good looking, doesn't have stickers, cannot do many fancy things. But for strangers, imho, it's the best. You don't have to send anything around and there's no way to understand who you talked with, nor when. Just don't make telephone calls (those are revealing your IP to parties).
