'Why travelling on #Eurostar from the #UK is about to become much trickier'

'The challenge our #airline friends will have is that all that #EES process is on arrival.”'

Airline passengers could find themselves on 6 October at, say, a small Greek airport which has not had millions invested in staff and kiosks to process biometric data. Passport queues for non-EU travellers may not be a pretty sight.

There have already been several instances of long queues at the Port of #Dover due to #Brexit

But prepare for it to get much worse.

The full #OvenReadyDeal hasn't been implemented yet. Once that happens, the following will happen for Britons looking to enter the #EU :

- Every Briton crossing into #Europe will require a #ESTA type visa called #ETIAS at a cost of €7 per person.
- Every Briton crossing into the EU will need to have their #fingerprints taken
- Also, they'll need to have a #biometric face scan made

All this will cause longer checks at the border. How much longer, we don't know. The Port of Dover CEO has said checks for a car containing 4 people could be up to 10 minutes.

All EU member states have similarly voiced the expectation that checks will take much longer. This will mean longer queues and longer waiting times.

When these rules will be implemented, we don't know yet. It has already been postponed twice, but the plan is now for it to be introduced around November.

After this, expect #chaos at the borders and outrage from #Brexiteers , but when that happens it is important to remember that this has been negotiated by #Boris #Johnson and his government.

Not much has been said about it in the press as of yet and expect it to be spun by the tabloids as 'punishment from the EU'. But is isn't.

Leading Brexiteers have negotiated this, 3.5 years ago.
