At GSA (Geological Society of America) meetings MSA has a booth (Fig. 1) with books for sale, but also displays of interesting minerals, their occurrences, and uses.

Just back from measuring our latitude (which I do roughly four times a year) and, for the first time, our longitude.

Latitude was pretty good, got to within about 15 km.

Longitude less good. Got about 6.8 degrees, but the actual value is about 3 degrees.

Wondering what went wrong ... need to think about how to "fix" that.
