What size do people like for hexes? I ran Kingmaker a long time ago, and that had 12 mile hexes, but I’ve also seen 6 miles suggested. What do people find is a good sweet spot for both exploring and later domain management?

I gotta say, Li Kui the Black Whirlwind seems like more trouble than he’s worth. Every story involving him he kills way more than is necessary and brings extra heat on the band.
Also, the number of people who seem fine being blackmailed into becoming outlaws is surprisingly high.

Wikipedia has a list of the 108 heroes of Outlaws of the Marsh. But sometimes the translated nickname doesn’t match my book. I suspect my book has better translations. Examples:

“A little maid served tea. Clever Cloud wiped the rim of a cup with her handkerchief, then proffered it respectfully in both hands to the young monk. He stared boldly and greedily into her eyes, and she gazed back at him, smiling.”
Not that I expected any different, but the portrayal of women in Outlaws of the Marsh is never particularly good. So far one character had a faithful wife, and she dutifully committed suicide when he was exiled.
Been thinking about how to adapt #BladesInTheDark into #OutlawsOfTheMarsh. Some ideas include:
All crew/hideout upgrades come from recruiting a hero into the stronghold.
Contacts that become allies have an ability while they are agents, and if the heat gets too high and they become outlaws they give a different ability to improve the stronghold.
Every hero needs a name and a nickname.
Tracking not just overall heat, but also heat in each county.
Since the Fairy Queen keeps calling Song Jiang “Star Lord”, I can’t help but think that he later ascends to be Master of the Sun and in the future makes Peter Quill the next Star Lord.

While it’s been satisfying to highlight the heroes in Outlaws of the Marsh, it does get a little complicated in the big scenes where over twenty characters are mentioned in a single page.
Conveniently most of the groups are listed in rank, although occasionally they are not.

There’s a surprising amount of attempted cannibalism in Outlaws of the Marsh. I’ve lost track of how many people have been drugged at an inn and almost butchered for meat, only to be recognized at the last minute and revived.
