#OutlandosdAmour von #ThePolice erschien am 17.11.1978 und erreichte Platz 6 in den UK Charts. Die Singles "Roxanne", "Can't Stand Losing You" und "So Lonely" wurden zu Hits. "Roxanne" entstand nach Stings Besuch im Pariser Rotlichtviertel, inspiriert von einem "Cyrano de Bergerac"-Poster. Der atonale Akkord am Anfang entstand, als Sting versehentlich auf Klaviertasten saß. Das Album erhielt Platin-Status in mehreren Ländern.
