Blick in fossile Daten für ein besseres Verständnis der Klimazukunft

30.04.2025/Kiel. Prof. Dr. Ying Cui von der Montclair State University in den USA ist mit einem Humboldt-Stipendium für erfahrene Forschende für sechs Monate am GEOMAR Helmholtz-Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel zu Gast. Die Geowissenschaftlerin untersucht mithilfe von Erdsystemmodellen, wie wärmere Klimata in der geologischen Vergangenheit den Sauerstoffgehalt im Ozean beeinflusst haben und welche Rückschlüsse sich daraus für die Zukunft ziehen lassen. Gastgeber ist Prof. Dr. Andreas Oschlies, Leiter der Forschungseinheit Biogeochemische Modellierung.

This week, a workshop of the project EMS FORE (Eastern Mediterranean Sea as a model for Future Ocean Research) is taking place at GEOMAR. The project is a partnership between GEOMAR and the University of Haifa, Israel. The workshop offers postdocs and doctoral students from Israel and Germany the opportunity to network.

High-ranking delegation from Cabo Verde visits the Kieler Woche

14.06.2023/Kiel. Following an initiative of GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, a high-ranking delegation from the Republic of Cabo Verde visits the Kieler Woche this year. Prime Minister José Correia e Silva will open the festival on 17 June 2023 together with other guests. During his stay in Kiel, important talks will also take place to intensify the cooperation between GEOMAR and Cape Verdean research institutions.

Support ocean research and learn more about the ocean in a changing climate: GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel and Trans-Ocean –Verein zur Förderung des Hochseesegelns e.V. invite sailors on the Baltic Sea to collect scientific data. The project “Citizen Science: Sailing for Oxygen” will be launched during a stopover of the global regatta “The Ocean Race” on 9 June 2023 in Kiel. Initial pilot measurements will take place this summer. From the coming season, there will be more extensive opportunities for participation.
