New seniors group in Victoria nourishes appetites and souls

A Victoria non-profit known for its work helping the homeless has a new club that’s bursting with joy.

In honour of #RecoveryMonth - #NewRoadsTherapeuticRecoveryCommunity #OurPlaceSociety & #UmbrellaSociety have partnered to deliver a #celebration of #recovery for individuals, families and friends affected by substance use disorders and other addictions.

RDV 24 is a free, family friendly, inclusive, alcohol/substance free event for anyone to attend who has an interest in celebrating recovery, honouring those who have recovered and giving hope to those seeking sustainable recovery from active addiction.

The day will include music, comedy, and other entertainment on the main stage; food trucks, a artisans marketspace, a resource providers marketspace, 4-on-4 street hockey tournament, a kids stage and "Family Fun Land" inflatable fun park for kids, parents, and adults.

There will also be crafting and #therapeutic arts workshops, face painting, and more!

Main Event runs from Noon until 7pm

Street Hockey Tournament runs from 9am until 5pm.

This was my fave #ArtPiece at #ArtisTree yesterday ❤️

Tanya Bub is an #EcoArtist who creates #sculptures of animals and people from #FoundWood and #RecycledMaterials. A signature feature of her work is making inanimate objects appear to be so alive that is it almost impossible to resist the feeling that there is a living being present.

This piece of art is called, Sitting With Grace - created in 2023.

Sitting with Grace is a sculpture project done in #collaboration, #OurPlaceSociety, #HausOfOwl creator, Ross Whelan and people in the #StreetCommunities in Victoria, BC. You can read more about the project and sculpture on #VictoriaBuzz :

Local artist aims to change how Victoria views downtown houseless community

Local driftwood artist and humanitarian Tanya Bub has a history of attaching causes she believes in to her art exhibits and draws inspiration from them in order to make meaningful pieces that directly influence positive change in Victoria.
